Pragati Maidan is the country’s biggest exhibition complex in New Delhi. With 72,000 sq. metres of exhibition space, this is the venue of annual India International Trade Fair that usually holds in November. This is managed by Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), the premier trade promotion agency of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India.
Built in 1982, this is spread over 150 acres overlooking the historic Purana Qila. The name of this complex is similar with development and shows hosts to mega events such as the Book Fair, Auto Expo and several trade festivals. India International Trade Fair is the biggest attraction of Pragati Maidan. This Trade Fair entrances around 10,000 exhibitors and over 30, 00,000 visitors.
Pragati Maidan has the permanent buildings for pavilions to all the states of the country. There are 18 exhibition halls, many buildings, eateries, performance spaces and compounds in the complex of Pragati Maidan. Around 70 national and international exhibitions are held here every year.
Many business and industrial organisations from all over the world take part in these fairs, fostering industrial collaboration. Exhibitions mean to focus on an orbit of products that are of domestic and international value.
